The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. is one of the fastest growing volleyball clubs in Ontario.
This year over 400 youth are anticipated to register in their outdoor beach volleyball programs. The City of Cambridge has no outdoor public beach volleyball courts to accommodate this growth.
The club has been a recipient of a Canada150 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to help partially fund the building three beach volleyball courts at the Shade's Mills Conservation Area in Cambridge. The courts will feature Olympic grade volleyball sand.
The courts will be built by C.O. Construction of Cambridge.
Paul Langan, President of the Scorpions states, "The club has wanted to do a legacy project that the people of Cambridge and area can benefit from for years to come. Shade's Mills Conservation Area is a jewel in the middle of the city that many families have yet to visit.
The building of these courts will allow our 400 players and their families, as well as park visitors to enjoy for decades to come."
