Scorpion's Briana Anton has been selected to be part of the 2017 Team Ontario 16U Beach Program. Press Release...2017-05-29...Waterloo Region.... The Scorpions Volleyball Club is very pleased to announce that 16U player Briana Anton has made the 2017 Team Ontario 16U Beach Program. Team Ontario programs are designed to identify and expose athletes to the beach high performance training environment. The objective is to create stepping stones towards future international and national team success. Briana Anton, attended the 2017 Team Ontario Beach Identification Camp in Toronto and was selected to the 2017 16U Team Ontario Beach program on the basis of her performance at the camp. The 16U Team Ontario Beach program consists of 2 provincial camps and coaching during various beach volleyball competitions, including the provincial and national championships. Paul Langan, founder of Scorpions Volleyball states, "Briana was a strong indoor player on our 16U Gold team this past season. Her passion and strength for playing beach volleyball is evident for anyone who has seen her play on the sand court. We wish her success in her future on the beach." The Scorpions Beach Volleyball Program has over 250 youth in their Learn to Play program and 44 competitive duos playing on the beach tour. In the spirit of continuing to build our boys program we have added a session on Thursday nights at our new Shades Mills Courts at 640 Avenue Road for Boys born 2006-2005-2004. We are also looking for boys Born 2003 who are born from Sept-December that year. It will start this Thursday, June 1st at 6pm. Cost - If you are already in a beach program this summer, it is only $50.00 for the 10 weeks. If you are not currently registered in our program, it is $95.00. Meanwhile the 14U duo of Hannah Chambers and Chantal Lapierre played up in the 15U Chmionship Division and came in tied for 3rd place.

WireService.ca Press Release (05/16/2017) Cambridge, ON - The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club Inc. is one of the fastest growing volleyball clubs in Ontario. This year over 400 youth will register in their outdoor beach volleyball programs. The club has been a recipient of a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to help partially fund the building three beach volleyball courts at the Shade's Mills Conservation Area in Cambridge. The courts feature Olympic grade volleyball sand. The courts have been built by C.O. Construction of Cambridge. On Monday May 22nd, 2017 from noon til 3pm there will be a grand opening of our courts. It is free for the public to come out and try the courts. There is no charge to enter Shade's Mills Conservation Area during this time. Paul Langan, President of the Scorpions states, "The club is excited to show to the public the beautiful sand courts we have built at Shade's Mills Conservation Area. The building of these courts is a legacy project our club is proud of." The Hespeler Reunion held this past summer was a hugh success in the community. Paul Langan Founder of Scorpions Volleyball states, " We started out with 9 players in 2010 as the Hespeler Scorpions. We are proud to continue our relationship with the community. The money will be used to purchase Mikasa beach volleyballs that are priced at an outrageous $75. each."
