The Scorpions Beach Volleyball Club is celebrating 15 years of bringing beach volleyball to youth in Waterloo Region and beyond. As we mark this milestone, we're excited to announce details for our 2026 Competitive Duos and Fours programs for 11u-18u competitive and select players.

Competitive Duos Program

Since 2011, our Competitive Duos program has been developing skilled athletes through twice-weekly training sessions. Athletes compete in six Scorpions invitational tournaments plus Ontario Volleyball Association sanctioned events throughout the season.

Competitive Fours Program

The Scorpions were pioneers in launching youth Competitive Fours in Ontario, and the program has grown in popularity each year. Teams practice once weekly and compete in six Scorpions-hosted tournaments. We're thrilled to see other clubs now embracing competitive fours and hosting their own invitational events.

Registration Details

Registration opens February 9th, 2026 for current Scorpions Competitive and Select Indoor players. If spots remain available, registration will open to athletes outside the club on March 15th.

Expert Coaching Staff

Our experienced coaching team includes Tracy Liburd, Sena Suzuki, and Sam Loos. Sam also serves as an Ontario Provincial Beach Team Coach, bringing elite-level expertise to our programs.

The Scorpions Beach Volleyball Club is celebrating its 15th year of providing beach volleyball to the youth in the Waterloo Region and surrounding area.

They have one of the largest and most diverse youth beach volleyball programming in Canada. It consists of

• Development Beach Volleyball – Grades 3-12
• Competitive Fours Program – The Scorpions started Youth Competitive Fours in Ontario.
• Competitive Duos Program
• Competitive Fours Invitational Public Tournaments – The largest in Ontario
• Competitive Duos Invitational Public Tournaments – The largest in Ontario

For ADULTS they also run an Adult Recreational beach volleyball program in Ayr and a $3,000 Prize Adult Tournament also.

Paul Langan, Scorpions Beach Program Coordinator states, “15 years ago when we started youth beach volleyball in Ontario, no indoor clubs offered beach volleyball. We have broken down barriers to make youth beach volleyball accessible to all by having such diverse programming open to the public. We also have invested in our communities building sand courts at Shade’s Mill Conservation Area, North Dumfries Community Complex. I am extremely proud of what we have done in our community.”

On January 27th, 2026 registration for the 1st component of our 2026 beach program begins. It is our Developmental Beach Program in Cambridge and Ayr, Ontario for youth Grades 3-12.

The Development program consists of a 9-week program, an end of season tournament. Each participant gets a T-shirt. Cost is $125. The programs are held at Shade’s Mills Conservation Area, Riverside Park in Cambridge and North Dumfries Community Complex in Ayr. Here is the CAMBRIDGE LINK and AYR LINK to register.

Registration for our Adult recreational beach program in Ayr, which figures weekly round robin games, also starts January 27th, 2026. It is 10 weeks for $80, or $460 for a team of six. Here is the ADULT AYR Program to register.

 Scorpions Beach Volleyball ends a successful season of  youth and adult beach volleyball. Our youth program ran soldout programs at Shade's Mill Conservation Area, Riverside Park in Cambridge and at the North Dumfries Community Centre in Ayr. Ignor sisters, Addyson and Rylee, each earned Gold in their respective divisions at this weekends 16U OVA Beach Volleyball Tournament!

Partners Addyson Ignor and Erin Neil clinched Gold playing in the 16U Championship division, and partners Rylee Ignor and Payton Charbonneau won Gold while playing up in 16U in the Premier division. It’s rare, if not unheard of, to see two sisters compete in the same tournament and both come out on top, in separate divisions, on the same day! 🥇🥇

And the success didn’t stop there - Rylee and Payton also competed Saturday in the 15U OVA Premier division and took home Silver! 🥈🥈

A huge congratulations to these Beach Volleyball Scorpions on an incredible weekend. We are so proud of the hard work, grit, and teamwork shown by these amazing athletes! 💪🏐

Scorpions beach duo, Rylee Ignor and Payton Charbonneau kicked off the 2025 OVA season at Ashbridge's Bay this weekend with an impressive performance bringing home Gold in 15U🥇and tying for 3rd in 16U🥉! A cool and windy, but fantastic start to the beach volleyball season! ​

On May 17th and May 22nd the Scorpions Volleyball Club will have  FREE "Learn to Play Volleyball Sessions for Adults" at sand courts, North Dumfries Community Centre in AYR from 6:30pm-8:00pm. No experience wanted! No preregistration, just show up and have fun. Coach Nicole will give you the basics in a fun environment. See you there!

Each year, part of your registration fee includes one tournament at Emerald Lake for all players registered in our developmental beach programs at Shade's Mill, Riverside Park and Ayr. Over the years it has proven to be a very popular tournament.
Due to the numbers registered in our beach program, it is not longer feasible to have it all in one day. So we have split the group into two separate days. We also have expanded the length of time of the fun tournament.

For our tournaments at Emerald Lake, Emerald Lake charges $15.00 to park for the tournament. Bring lawn chair, sun screen,umbrella. NOTE:  Park Rules - No dogs! Drive slow through campground, No alcohol/drugs. Obey railway crossing guard.

The Scorpions Club is excited to announce the dates for Ontario's largest public youth beach volleyball tournaments for 2025. With separate FOURS (4-on-4) and DUOS (2-on-2) competitions, these tournaments offer young athletes aged 12-18 the perfect opportunity to showcase their skills in a competitive yet fun environment.

FOURS Tournaments: A Growing Sensation - Since pioneering youth FOURS tournaments in 2019, the Scorpions Club has witnessed dramatic growth in this format's popularity. The club has responded to increased demand by adding two additional tournaments for the 2025 season, including an early-season "TRY FOURS" event designed to introduce new players to this exciting format.

What's New for 2025

• Separate female and male divisions for all 14U and up age categories
• Continuation of the popular mixed divisions for 12U-18U
• Teams can have up to 6 players, making it an affordable option for youth volleyball enthusiasts

DUOS Tournaments: A Tradition of Excellence - The Scorpions Club has been hosting beach DUOS tournaments at Emerald Lake Waterpark since 2013. Due to overwhelming demand, a sixth tournament has been added to the 2025 schedule. Separate female and male divisions are available for all age categories from 12U to 18U.

• June 7th & 8th
• June 22nd
• June 28th
• July 12th
• July 19th
• July 27th

Tournament Location: All tournaments take place at the beautiful Emerald Lake Waterpark and Trailer Park, just 15 minutes east of Cambridge, Ontario. The beach volleyball courts are set in a serene location surrounded by mature trees across the lake from the waterpark. Athletes will compete on 15 sand courts featuring Olympic-quality sand.

Registration Information: Registration for all tournaments opens on March 17th, 2025. Don't miss your chance to participate in Ontario's premier youth beach volleyball events!

The Scorpions Volleyball Club accepting completed Expression of Interest Forms to be submitted for consideration to be accepted into our duos, fours program. We have on of the largest programs in Canada and the only competitive youth fours program. Here are the steps to follow. Here is the link to the beach volleyball competitive page. LINK

Step #1 -  IMPORTANT - Read the FAQS for the program you are interested in.

Step #2 -  If you can commit to one of the programs, the next steps would be to find other player(s) for your duos or fours team.Once you have your partner/team togther the next step is: 

Step #3 - Only one person from the Duo or Fours team completes the respective Expression of Interest Form. For duos - you must know the name of your partner and a parent email address for each player of the duo. For Fours - you need the name of all 4 players and a parent email address for each player.

Step #4 - We will notify you if you are accepted into the program and how to register.

Step #5 - You will attend our Scorpions Pre-Season Beach Orientation Meeting outlined in the FAQs.

Step #6 - If you are a new Duo or Fours team, you will register and attend our 2 day (May 10, 11th) Scorpions Commit to Beach preseason practical training. Registration starts March 15th for this training.
