The Scorpions Volleyball Club is pleased to announce that a Scorpions Beach Record has been shattered. The 12U duo of Alex Heinke and Charlee Akehurst have set a new record for most beach medals by a duo in one season. The previous record was 5 medals won in 2015 by Elyssa Trotter and Maddie Mulholland. Heinke and Akehurst won an astonishing 8 medals this summer including a Ontario Volleyball Association Provincial Bronze medal. They came back to win a barnburner second set 28-26 and then won the 3rd set 15-10. Paul Langan, Founder of Scorpions Volleyball Club states," It is fantastic that a Scorpions beach record was set this season. However to me it is not just the fact that Alex and Charlee shattered the previous record. I watched them play all summer and it is their love of the game and the constant smiles on their faces that I will always remember." Here is the list of medals the girls won.
They also tied for third place twice at Ashbridge Bay and in Brampton. For more information on the beach program go to : http://scorpionsbeach.ca For more information on the club go and their upcoming indoor season go to: http://scorpionsvolleyball.ca
